Best Debuts Of 2011

Again, it's in no specific order. Some I've read and some I haven't but I had to put them in because of the rave reviews and because I'm gonna read them. So here they are!

•   The Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Hands down the Best Debut, for me, of 2011. Fantasy + Romance + Kick-ass characters = Hira's Favourite Book of 2011

•  Obsidian

Finally a book not involving Vamps but having a sickening familiar taste to Twilight. But in a way it's the total opposite because there is only one love interest and the guy not a total ass and also the girl is bearable. 

•  Shatter Me By Tahereh Mafi

Different Story. An interesting Story. It got mixed reviews. But it's one hell of a ride. It definitely deserves a place on this list.

•  Bloodlines By Richelle Mead

One of the Most awaited books of 2011. By the one and only Richelle Mead. Of course, everyone knows about Vampire Academy. Hello? Rose and Dimitri? Adrian? Yeah, you remembered. Anyway, okay for the first installment but looking forward to more kick-ass action and Adrian. *squeals*

•  Divergent by Veronica Roth

O.M.G. Hands Down Most Creative Dystopian Book Of 2011. I can just about imagine a movies in it's place. It's beat down the shit called Twilight any day. O.M.G. Four is real-life....*squeal*

•  Die For Me By Amy Plum

One of the Biggies of 2011. I think every girl who read this swooned over the main lead. The girl was okay too. The premise roped in some people aswell. I mean, who doesn't love *insert lame attempt of a french accent* PARIS!

Best Books Of 2011

Okay, first of all guys, these books which have been chosen, are in no particular order. I couldn't do it. It's just too hard. It's like picking out your favourite chocolate and then figuring out that you like all the chocolates to choose from. Also, some of these books were not released in 2011 but I read them in 2011 so in a way I suppose it's okay.

•  The Daughter of Smoke and Bone By Laini Taylor

God, this was one hell of a roller coaster ride. I LOVED it. If there was a word that expressed more feeling than LOVED, I'd have used it by now. I don't usually read fantasy because nothing could compare to Harry Potter for me but I'd say this put up quite a fight. Can't wait for more from this brilliant author. 

•  Obsidian By Jennifer Armentrout

I only read this a while back. And it has become my one of my faves. You might have remembered that I had my complaints, but it amused me and also the romance was good, so I kept at it. So here it is. Jennifer has done a brilliant job. Looking Forward to more from her!

•  Lola and the Boy Next Door By Stephanie Perkins

I LOVE HER! Stephanie I mean. I also LOVE this book. I've craved for this since I read Anna and the French Kiss and when it finally released, I pounced on it like a wild animal. Kidding. Loved the characters and the romance. Cannot wait for the final installment!

• The Vision (Fallen Star #3) by Jessica Sorensen

I loved the previous two books and was amazed to see the final edition out. And yeah, it was brilliant. I love the characters especially and the interesting world Jessica has created. I look forward to more of her works. Also, I don't know if I have reviewed the other two and if I haven't, I definitely will.

•  Why oh why did I wait an entire year after it's release to read this? I swear, it got me out of my book slump and introduced me to an all time favourite romantic book. If you haven't read it, then I don't know what you been doing your entire life. Again, kidding. READ, READ, READ!

•  Saving June By Hannah Harrington

A book dealing with a hard issue but has a brilliant story around it. Love the main guy and girl. Love the fact that music is a big part of it. And, god, love the main guy. You just have to read it. It'll touch you in a good way and make you squeal that girly little squeal that girls always do!

I've been a really good girl this year. Well, if you ignore me constantly stabbing my brother or secretly breaking my family's valuable vase and then lying and blaming it on my little sister and....anyway, if you ignore all that, then I think you'll get me what I want. I think I'm the only one who hasn't read it this year. I mean, look at the cover. I'm a sucker for the whole girl-whose-dress-is-made-up-of-pretty-flowers-that-disappear kind of thing.

2. The Night Circus By Erin Morgenstern

Who doesn't wanna read the book that's being compared to THE Harry Potter? 

3. Catching Jordan By Miranda Kenneally

A boyish-girl who discover Womanhood AND experiences a great Romance?

Wow. I'm far behind.

4. Half- Blood By Jennifer L. Armentrout

I know, I know. What right do I have to love Jennifer when I haven't read the book that brought YA world to it's knees...

5. Legend By Marie Lu

Politics WOULD turn me off but a kick-ass girl and an even kick-ass guy in a dystopian world DON'T so bring it on!

Back To The Past- The Classis

 Pride and Prejudice

You have probably been living under a rock your entire life if you haven't read or heard about THE Pride and Prejudice. Well, *cough*, I'm not gonna lie to you all. I haven't read it. But I've heard about it. And seen the film. And loved it. And am gonna read it. So there!

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife."

So begins Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen's witty comedy of manners--one of the most popular novels of all time--that features splendidly civilized sparring between the proud Mr. Darcy and the prejudiced Elizabeth Bennet as they play out their spirited courtship in a series of eighteenth-century drawing-room intrigues. Renowned literary critic and historian George Saintsbury in 1894 declared it the "most perfect, the most characteristic, the most eminently quintessential of its author's works," and Eudora Welty in the twentieth century described it as "irresistible and as nearly flawless as any fiction could be."

Up above is the synopsis I found on Goodreads. I feel it doesn't give the book enough credit. Now you all are probably raising your eyebrows and thinking, "what does she know when she hasn't even read the thing?". Well, let me tell you. I have searched far and wide and gathered information about Jane Austen. More that you'll ever know. I know about some of her most famous works and see alot of all their films. So there. 

Pride and Prejudice is one of the Best Romance books of all time. Not just Romance. Just about everything else. I love Elizabeth. I don't like how he behaves with Darcy at the start but I love everything else about her. She so witty and strong for a girl back in the day. I also love Jane Austen. I love the fact that even though back then female writers were...restricted but she followed her heart and did what she loved  the most and that was writing. Every book of hers has unique characters and that is  what makes her one of the most beloved classical writers of all time, so please be sure to read this. So will I. And I assure you all, It will not let you down!

Books That Really Should Be Made Into Movies

 Anna and French Kiss By Stephanie Perkins

This book was indescribable. You all SHOULD know so no synopsis detail, kay? I swear this book deepened my faith in YA. Stephanie Perkins also joined the very exclusive Hira's Favourite Authors List. Very exclusive indeed. Anyway, the casting of this would be very hard. I mean, it'd surely become one of the best chick-lits of all time  so that why the cast has to be the BEST. Etienne has to be, like the fake-guy-of-my-dream, so no guy over 30 should be playing him. 

 

 The Fallen Star By Jessica Sorensen


The only reason I want a movie to be made for this is because I want a real life Alex. No needed explanation. Wait. Also because I like the main girl. Reminds me of me. That's it.

  Daughter of smoke and Bone By Laini Taylor


This was the Best Book of 2011 For me. No Joke. I always get amazed at the imagination of Authors and Laini is up there with J.K. Rowling. And I LOVED LOVED LOVED....LOVED the characters. I just...I just can't. If they ever make film, they better not mess it up. Yes, that was a threat.

If the two cover models played the main characters I Actually wouldn't mind. The girls a bit...nah, she's okay. It'd be like Twilight all over again. No, I don't mean stupid-girl and stupid-vamp/werewolf. I mean Best-girl and hot-guy/alien. That's all we need.




  Abandon By Meg Cabot


I think we all need a John. Who doesn't? Good premise, but I'd say that we should wait till all the books will be released. It'll get better. Hopefully. Not that it wasn't good. It was. Totally.

Starting over sucks. 

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up. 
And then he opened his mouth. 

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens. 

The hot alien living next door marks me. 

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. 
If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Why can't all books be like this one? Why can't they all have a great story with kick-ass characters?

Why can't the main character just be smart and not make stupid decisions that makes me wish that she was real so I could slap her?  Why can't the relationship between the guys in other books make you wish it'd happen to you?

Yeah, these were the type of questions that raced trough my mind when I was reading this book.

This book has it all Ladies and Gentleman. As stated about it has great characters, a great story and great...everything else. Not that it didn't have flaws. Every book has flaws and this one made quite the list. Let's start shall we.

List of Good Things About This Book:

• The Girl a.k.a Main Character. We've all experienced this folks. We've met with idiots who've ruined it for us but we've also met some who made it for us . Katy was the one for me. She wasn't the girl who made stupid decisions. All her decisions had a purpose. She didn't chase after the guy and when he blew her off, she blew him off. FINALLY. In your face Bella Swan! * takes deep breath* 
• The Guy a.k.a Tortured-gorgeous-hero-who's-secretly-nice. We've all met a handful but there is one thing about him that sticks out. He's mean. Not mean as in he-took-my-lollipop but mean as in I-need-to-dump-my-lunch-over-his-head type of mean. I got so frustrated at time that I wished I could say a few things to him because his level of mean kept increasing. Actually mean doesn't describe him. It can't compare. More like....I won't say it. No cursing aloud. Ha! Anyway, mean did blend in with his overall hotness. God, he could have fried an egg on his abs that how hot Jennifer made him. I just...I can't...Just read it.
• The Story a.k.a the story. It doesn't have vamps ( *jumps up in excitement*) It has...aliens. Take that anyway you want but give it a chance is all I have to say.

List of Bad Things About This Books:

• The Twilight-Vibe it gives off. It did to me anyway. Sometime what happened was that when I was reading it I was hit with this horrible feeling that I was reliving a nightmare a.k.a Twilight and had to got back and look at the cover to make sure I was reading the right one. Katy didn't live on Hot-Guy but her thoughts were always consumed by him.   Then there was the fact that all the Aliens were perfect-gorgeous-looking 'beings' a.k.a The Cullens. The fact that Hot-guy is mean to her also made me think this but I'd multiply Edward's mean by 10 and then you'd have Hot-guys mean. If that makes an sense whatsoever.  There were other thing but I'm too lazy to think of them right now. Just read it. You might understand.
• The Hot-Guy's Mean. He might have gone overboard at times and you might get tired of his and Katy's constant bickering. But you might just enjoy that bickering too.

Now you're gonna say, this girl is giving off mixed vibes so why did she give this book 5 stars. 

Well, probably because of Jennifer's writing and her brilliant books. Maybe also because she took a new approach and got rid of other supernatural things. Maybe because I might have a little...obsession over.....doesn't matter. Just Read it. Oh yeah, Comment aswell!  

So Much To do, So Little Time...

Hello! How nice to see you! Would you like a cup of tea? Biscuits?
Wow...My introductions are getting lamer. I'm trying to lure you all in with my humorous and sarcastic wit but it's not my fault that I lack in the 'humor' side of things is it?
Anyways, moving on, I'm going to be using this post to clear up a few things and mke a few announcements so lets get a move on.

First of all, if you are reading this right now then, thank you, because nobody knows how grateful I feel. I'm a newbie in the area of blogging so alot of things I do and say are going to be shit. The blog need work done on and I need to post more but I feel that gradually, and I do mean GRADUALLY, things will get better.

Second, my sister said to me last night that nobody seems to read this blog. I made her re-think that by telling her about all the bloggers out there who, after alot of work and time, finally made a place for themselves in this World Wide Web. So that's what I'm gonna do. Work hard and take as much time as I want. Although, If you guys keep coming back here, then I'll feel a tiny bit better.
