The Body Finder By Kimberly Derting

The Body Finder (The Body Finder, #1)

Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes that the dead leave behind in the world... and the imprints that attach to their killers.

Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find the dead birds her cat had tired of playing with. But now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved to find herself hoping that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer... and becoming his prey herself.

If I was able to give more that 5 stars, then I'd definitely give it to this book.
God, it's exactly what I want to read. I love a good mystery, that not only gives you the creeps, it has a kick-ass character. And Not To Mention Jay. Moment Of Silence.

It's  very well written book. Violet is a likable person, well, if you overlook her freaky ability. I find it creepy-fascinating. I wouldn't want to have it myself. It'd leave scars.
I remember when I was reading this book and getting creepy chills. At one point I had to look over my shoulder to make sure I was the only one in my bedroom.  It's paced brilliantly. Not too slow but fast enough to make developments.

But the best part was definitely Jay. Childhood Best Friend of Violet. Making her feel weird things. Making her heart pound. That type of 'best friend'. Violet come to realise her feelings and guess what. I's wasn't all 'they-finally-after-much-useless-tension-get-together' kind of thing but just...so....*squeal*
Just read it.

Bittersweet By Sarah Ockler

Bittersweet

Once upon a time, Hudson knew exactly what her future looked like. Then a betrayal changed her life, and knocked her dreams to the ground. Now she’s a girl who doesn’t believe in second chances… a girl who stays under the radar by baking cupcakes at her mom’s diner and obsessing over what might have been.

So when things start looking up and she has another shot at her dreams, Hudson is equal parts hopeful and terrified. Of course, this is also the moment a cute, sweet guy walks into her life…and starts serving up some seriously mixed signals. She’s got a lot on her plate, and for a girl who’s been burned before, risking it all is easier said than done.

It’s time for Hudson to ask herself what she really wants, and how much she’s willing to sacrifice to get it. Because in a place where opportunities are fleeting, she knows this chance may very well be her last….

I LOVE SARAH OCKLER. Always have, always will. Fixing Delilah is one of my All-Time faves.
So there shouldn't have been a problem with this book. The synopsis tell you all.
So. What.Happened.

The story is good. It just the character. It's like finding a hair in your favourite dessert.  That's basically what was wrong with this book. I hated Hudson. Anyone who knows me, knows very well, that If I hate the main Character, then the whole book is a complete waste of time for me. But, For Ockler I kept going. Not all was bad. I loved a certain person aka Bug aka she-who-shall-not-be-named's little brother. He was so cute. *Cue soppy voice* I just wunted to shueez his wittle sheeks. Moving on. Also, Hudson BFF, Dani.
Hudson didn't deserve her.

Hudson made some shit decisions. Also it was always ME ME ME.  I understood that she was going through some pain, but I think that she made it worse for her, not to mention the people around her.  But I will give Ockler credit for trying her best. Btw, this is only my opinion. If you read the reviews on Goodreads, this book got nearly all 5 stars. So, I suppose I'm the odd one out. Truthfully, I'm just picky. I think.
The romance was also sucky for me. It's mostly the best part for me in a Sarah Ockler book. Again, moving on.

I will say that you should try the book. You might love it. Just Because I didn't, doesn't mean you won't.
Also, BEWARE, have some cupcakes handy when reading this book because you will CRAVE them!

Would you look at that?

                                     Until I Die (Revenants, #2)

Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love.
As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy.
In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series.

If you've read the first book, then you're probably DYING to read this. Get it? Dying? Haha......ha.
Sorry, just got back from school. It drained out all of the humor left in me.

Anyway, back to the cover. I loved the first one. The red dress was beautiful. Alot would say it's really similar to the first book and I can get where they're coming from. Change the colour of the dress and put the swirly things on the left side and bam, there you go. But it's still not bad. It's just as beautiful. They girl gives off mysterious vibe and I like how the tones are blue. If you haven't read the first book, then you need to A.S.A.P.

Enjoy!

Enjoy!

Would You Look At That?

                                                        Dark Kiss (Nightwatchers, #1)

Lets's welcome My newest segment. I call it 'Would You Look At That'.

Basically, I judge and rate new cover of books released or to-be released.
Let's welcome Dark Kiss By Michelle Rowen. A first in a planned series or trilogy, I'm not sure.

After her soul is stolen in a kiss, a 16-year-old must join a force of demons and angels to protect humanity from an immortal threat.

It's gorgeous. Ain't I right gals? Sorry. My bad Texas accent.
The Guy, first of all, is not bad. Kinda reminds me of Elvis. Ha. Second. Those wings. I'm an artist and stuff like that calls out to me. The colours used blend in beautifully as well. A good combination of black and blue. I love his expression. I need to give him a  nickname. How about I-think-so-hot-I-need-to-look-tortured-and-not-button-up-my-shirt. Wait. That's too long.... How about Hot-Abs. Yeah that works out.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight

Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. She's stuck at JFK, late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon to be step-mother that Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's in seat 18C. Hadley's in 18A.

Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

One of the biggies, I think, of 2012. I read  few reviews, mixed review but I'm a sucker for a good love story so this was on my list. When I got the chance, I leaped to read it.

It's basically an easy read. Here's how it goes. Hadley and Oliver meet an airport. Cue Attraction. Oh look. Out seats are beside each other, great. Cue thumping of the heart, secret glances and slight hand touching. But, gosh, not all story's are a piece a pie are they? Oh no, cue Hadley's...um...hatred for her dad. Well, I wouldn't call it hatred. I mean, if your dad divorced your mum cause he fell in love with a British woman and broke your family into pieces, you wouldn't hate him would you. What the hell am I saying? You'd loathe him. You'd detest him. You...get the picture. Any emotion Hadley felt I felt aswell. I hated her dad to. How could he do that? But, lets not forget Oliver. Cue Mysterious Oliver's angst. I only found out like 3/4 of the book in. Actually, I kinda guessed but pushed it at the back of the mind. No people. He's not gay or anything.

Did I like this book? Yes. How was the story? Predictable. Did you mind it being predictable? No. Alot of the cheesy romance books are like that. What'd you think of the characters? Um. Okay I suppose. Thought that Hadley forgave her dad a bit too easy but I'm being stupid cause forgiveness is best. Oliver was...okay. He's not on my list though. Ha. Kidding.

Overall people, you like it or you fall asleep. You squeal or you roll your eyes. But there are a few things that'll make your toes curl. In a good way. Or bad. Depends if you like things that will usually make you throw up. I can see you are confused by my review. I like to call it a mixed review. Meaning Its good + bad. Enjoy!

Rating: 3.5 Stars!

Going to Far By Jennifer Echols

Going Too Far

HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO?
All Meg has ever wanted is to get away. Away from high school. Away from her backwater town. Away from her parents who seem determined to keep her imprisoned in their dead-end lives. But one crazy evening involving a dare and forbidden railroad tracks, she goes way too far...and almost doesn't make it back.
John made a choice to stay. To enforce the rules. To serve and protect. He has nothing but contempt for what he sees as childish rebellion, and he wants to teach Meg a lesson she won't soon forget. But Meg pushes him to the limit by questioning everything he learned at the police academy. And when he pushes back, demanding to know why she won't be tied down, they will drive each other to the edge -- and over....
Jennifer Echols is one of my favourite authors. She has the ability to make a very realistic love story which also deals with hard issues. Going to Far is my favourite book of hers. It's just what you hope for when you open up a new book. A good story, likable characters and a good dose of imagination.
As you can tell from the synopsis, Meg is a reckless mess. I mean, for one thing, her hair is dyed blue. Also, she's harboring a dark secret and when John enters the picture, she's not sure what to think anymore. He drives her crazy, with his annoying habit of being right about everything, the way he's so strict when it comes to the the law and also because he smells so good. What's a girl gotta do but fall for him? That's just what she does.
John was a great character. Hard and soft at the same time (if that's possible)  and just, you know, how a guy should be. He's not perfect though. He just as messed up as Meg and so, when he finds that he can talk to her, this crazy blue-haired girl, and starts to care just a bit too much about anything concerning her, he realises it's too late. He's in Love.
Now, the story can't go as smoothly as we'd all want it to. We'd want the two to get together and leave it at that but no, that is not gonna happen easily. That's what I love about books. They keep you on your toes. Making you anticipate. They keep building it up and finally, bam, it happens and it's just as good as you wanted it to be.
Overall, this books is good for the romantics or even if you just wanna read a good book.
Would I recommend it to you guys? Hell Yeah!
5 Stars!

Lola and The Boy Next Door By Stephanie Perkins

Lola and the Boy Next Door

Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit -- more sparkly, more fun, more wild -- the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.

When Cricket -- a gifted inventor -- steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

I loved Anna and the French Kiss.  My love of books grew after it and has been slowly increasing. The book has everything I want in a book. A Story, characters and a good romance. No wonder my expectations for Lola and The Boy Next door were so high. And I'm happy to say that it didn't disappoint.

Lola was a very unique character. Very bold and very interesting. She doesn't care about others say and loves the way she is. Her style of fashion intrigued me as so did her personality. An aspect of a good story is the main and Lola fits in exactly. You'd never be bored if you were friends with her. Yeah, she'd wreck your head and you'd wanna slap her for her stupid decisions but, oh well, people make mistakes. It's even better when they learn from them.

Oh, goodness, where do I start with Cricket. Cricket, for me, was the heart and soul of the book.
More Crickets should be born in real life. Then life wouldn't be so boring anymore. He's not the normal boy next door. Those boys dress horribly and make you roll your eyes and make you wish you moved homes. No, this one wears tight pants. Yep. I said it. Pants. Also he's freakin' tall. No matter how much I love Eitenne, Tall is a big factor in the 'perfect-boy' category for me. Also he is SO Romantic. I don't even think he knows that. Half the time I was reading this, I was jealous of Lola. The things he did for her. Gosh. Moving on. Oh, yeah. He's also an inventor. That's all that is needed to be said.

I recommend this for everyone, especially girls who love make-you-squeal books. But first read Anna and the French Kiss. It'll get you into the world of Stephanie Perkins. Ha.
