Abandon by Meg Cabot

Abandon (Abandon Trilogy #1)

New from #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, a dark, fantastical story about this world . . . and the underworld.
Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she's never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.
But now she's moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.
Only she can't. Because even here, he finds her. That's how desperately he wants her back. She knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly heaven, yet she can't stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.
But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.

Meg Cabot is probably one of my favourite authors. I've read alot of complicated and depressing books but I have found that if I need a break, Cabot is the person to turn to. She somehow seems to understands the 'WAY' of the teens and maybe that's why her series The Princess Diaries is such a big hit.

Anyway back to the book. This was probably Meg's break into the dark world for young adults. She has done paranormal before with her mediator series and Insatiable. Now she went deeper by combining young adult with Greek mythology.

The Book was....interesting. No really, it was. I did get a bit confused at times but I found that I loved Pierce as a character. She was strong and always knew what she had to do. Though the whole Nobody-understands-what-I've-gone-through moments did leave me a bit skeptical, I found myself interested in the conversations and interactions of John, The King of The Underworld, and Pierce.

Overall, I wasn't going to give it five stars as it was a bit all over the place and it is only the firs in the series but I decided against it as the book did keep me engrossed.

So finally, if you are a fan of delicious romance mixed in with headstrong characters and paranormal activity, then this is the book for you!

Fvourite Quotes: (some of them anyway!)

Anything can happen in the blink of an eye. Anything at all.

One.

Two.

Three.

Blink."

"Why would John bother using windows or doors like a normal person? Why would he bother to say hello? Just poof. Crunch. Bye."

"Don't cry."

"How can I not?" I asked him. "You just said you loved me."

"Well, why else did you think all of this was happening?" He set the book aside to wrap his arms around me. "The Furies wouldn't be trying to kill you if I didn't love you."

"I didn't know," I said. Tears were trickling down my cheeks, but I did nothing to try to stop them. His shirt was absorving most of them. "You never said anything about it. Every time I saw you, you just acted so... wild."

"How was I supposed to act?" he asked. "You kept doind things like throw tea in my face."
